J.A. (Joseph Alfred) Nettleton (1851-1939) began his career in the Laboratory of Inland Revenue, Somerset House, and later became a Fellow at the Institute of Brewing. Publishing several books and papers on brewing and distilling, his first major work was 1893's "The Manufacture of Spirit..." He spent the next few years studying condensing and cooling principles as applied in different types of distillation processes. Published in 1897 and intended as a supplement to the 1893 book, "Condensing and Cooling in Pot-Still and Patent-Still Distillation" is the culmination of his research. Portions of this book were later included in 1913's "The Manufacture of Whisky and Plain Spirit." For the first time since the original release, you have the opportunity to read the complete work as Nettleton first published. This edition features a new introduction discussing the book's relation to the "...Manufacture..." books, a summary of what was carried into the 1913 title and new biographical information as well as a comprehensive Nettleton bibliography.
